The five plants starting up in April represent an estimated $70 million in total investment value (TIV). The largest of these expenditures will be for a new ethanol plant planned by Front Range Energy, LLC (Colwich, Kansas) to construct a plant that will produce an estimated 30 million gallons of bio-based fuel a year. Also planning to come online in April, is a grassroot commercial printing plant in Santa Teresa, New Mexico with an estimated TIV of $20 million and a 9-megawatt wind farm by Exergy Development Group, LLC (Helena, Montana) in Boise, Idaho.

With an estimated 60 new plants scheduled to come online this year within the region, 2006 will exceed the historical regional average by 39.5% for new plant startups. The most significant new plant startup activity for 2006 will occur in the fourth quarter of the year with over 25 new plants scheduled to come online.

Over 2,000 industrial plants are currently operating in the Rocky Mountain region with additional plants continuing to come online in the region every month. As the region continues to grow and new plants begin operation, definitive plant details can be found for each of these plants through Industrial Info Resources’ Rocky Mountain Online Plant Directory (OPD).
