October 10, 2025--Written by Daniel Graeber for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Less than two weeks after making a final investment decision on a new development off the U.S. Gulf coast, BP Plc (London, England) said Thursday it launched its sixth offshore project of the year with the Murlach field in the North Sea. BP said it started operations at the Murlach field in the U.K.'s territorial waters in the North Sea. Approved by the government in 2023, the facility will produce about 15,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOE/D). Its development involved two new wells, additional subsea equipment and the re-use of existing facilities on a rig at a central processing facility in the North Sea.
