Clayco's position in the Southeast comes primarily from a large automotive lithium-ion manufacturing project in Commerce, Georgia, about 65 miles northeast of Atlanta. SK Innovation Company Limited (Seoul, South Korea) is underway with Phase II construction on its automotive battery plant, with Clayco providing general contracting services. The project entails constructing a 1.5 million-square-foot building to manufacture lithium-ion batteries intended for a Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) (Dearborn, Michigan) electric vehicle assembly plant in Kentucky. Construction kicked off in the summer of 2020 and is expected to be completed in the first half of next year. Construction of data centers is showing strength throughout the nation as people turn online for various activities. In Cheyenne, Wyoming, Clayco is helping construct a grassroot data center for Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) (Redmond, Washington). The 250,000-square-foot building is the first phase of the project, which upon completion will help increase the speed and capability to support Microsoft's Azure cloud computing service in the region. Construction kicked off late last year and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Subscribers can click here for the project report.
Clayco also is at work on another Phase I data center project for Microsoft, in Elk Grove, Illinois. The project is expected to be completed in the coming months. Subscribers can click here for the detailed report.
Similarly to the way data centers are appearing throughout the country, so are the fulfillment centers and delivery stations of e-commerce giant Amazon.com Incorporated (NASDAQ:AMZN) (Seattle, Washington). Clayco is involved with at least six projects for the company, with California taking the bulk of these. Among the largest is a grassroot fulfillment center in Ontario, California, on the eastern outskirt of Los Angeles. The project, for which Clayco is providing design-build services, entails constructing a five-story, 1.4 million-square-foot fulfillment center to help support Amazon's services in the region. The project kicked off last summer and is expected to wrap up in the first half of next year. Subscribers can click here for the project report.
Taking a smaller role in Clayco's project portfolio is the Food & Beverage Industry, which accounts for more than $700 million worth of projects, including distribution centers, a poultry processing plant and an indoor herb farm. In Danville, Kentucky, Clayco is underway with a project to help make some of Tyson Foods Incorporated's (NYSE:TSN) (Springdale, Arkansas) fully cooked chicken products, including its Any'tizer line and chicken nuggets. Construction on the 325,000-square-foot processing facility began earlier this year and is expected to be completed next year. The Pharma-Biotech Industry also features in Clayco's portfolio, such as the Phase II expansion of Bausch & Lomb Corporation's (NYSE:BLCO) (Bridgewater, New Jersey) distribution center in Woodruff, South Carolina. Earlier this year, after the first phase of the project was completed, Clayco began work on Phase II of the facility, which will double the existing building area of 430,000 square feet, with additional equipment for the storage, handling and distribution of Bausch and Lomb's ophthalmic products. Phase II is expected to be completed in mid-2024. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Pharma-Biotech Project Database can click here for the report.
