The Netherlands Antilles' state-run petroleum refiner, Refineria di Korsou (RdK), has selected CORC BV (Curacao Oil Refinery Complex BV), a local company, as a preferred partner to operate the 225,000-barrel-per-day Willemstad Isla Refinery in Curacao. Processing units remain offline due to unplanned events, followed by a lack of crude oil, financial issues and the COVID-19 pandemic. The previous operator was Venezuela's Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA).
Authorities expect to close negotiations and sign the agreement with the new operator in March. Only preventive maintenance work is being performed at the refinery.
