COVID-19 has had a significant impact on Dow Quimica's investment plants at its Bahia Blanca plant in Argentina. Although the company has been able to maintain its normal processing capacity at its complex, which has a total production capacity 1.544 million pounds per year of ethylene and 1.968 million pounds per year of different types of polyethylene, authorities have been forced to place on hold different projects that aimed at expanding the production capacity and upgrading the LLDPE, LDPE and HDPE units as well as adding new processing facilities. Project planners were hopeful during the first quarter of 2020, but once the pandemic hit the region, these intentions quickly vanished. Dow Quimica expects to begin reactivating projects by the end of 2020 or early 2021.
