The company recently announced that orders for eight new Danieli Zerobucket electric arc furnaces have been placed by five Chinese steelmakers over the last six months. All of them selected the original Danieli horizontal, continuous scrap-charge system, which ensures endless, hot-scrap charging, according to Danieli.

Industrial Info is tracking five Chinese steel projects in which Danieli has a role as a technology provider. In Lishui, Zhejing, the company is providing its expertise for Zhejiang Yuxin Industrial Company Limited's Lishui steel mill steel-making capacity replacement project, which involves dismantling and replacing two EAFs with a total capacity of 1.1 million tons per year of steel. In the U.S., Industrial Info is tracking more than US$6 billion in project activity that involves Danieli. The company is providing hot-strip, cold-strip rolling and processing technology for Nucor Corporation's (NYSE:NUE) (Charlotte, North Carolina) planned US$2.7 billion grassroot steel mill in Apple Grove, West Virginia. The 3 million-ton-per-year facility would produce hot-rolled sheet products with downstream processing including a tandem cold mill, annealing capabilities and initially two galvanizing lines. Among other things, the new mill will be equipped to produce 84-inch sheet products. Construction is planned to kick off in October, with completion in third-quarter 2024. Danieli also is a technology provider for Nucor's 1.2 million-ton-per-year steel plate mill in Brandenburg, Kentucky, which is scheduled for completion by the end of this year. The facility will produce cut-to-length, coiled, heat-treated, and discrete plates and associated rail loop. Subscribers can click here for related project reports.

In Pueblo, Colorado, Danieli is working with EVRAZ Group plc (London, England) on a 630,000-ton-per-year steel rail mill. Located at a shuttered coke plant that was closed in the 1980s, the facility will be powered by a 240-megawatt solar facility. Completion of the steel mill is planned for the first quarter of 2023.
