Indorama continues repairs at its 945 million-pound-per-year Olefins unit in Sulphur, Louisiana. The unit was forced offline on August 1 after a lightning strike hit the plant, and has remained down due to damages from the 2020 hurricane season.

Chevron Phillips Chemical, on August 10, restarted the 560 million-pound-per-year Ethylene 22 unit at its Sweeny, Texas, plant, after the unit was forced to shut down on August 7 due to a power outage.

Pemex Petroquimica has completed a 15-day planned maintenance turnaround of the 705.5 million-pound-per-year Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) 1 Unit, which began July 23, at its Cagrejera plant in Veracruz, Mexico. The unit resumed operations on August 6. Separately, a maintenance turnaround of the 705.5 million-pound-per-year LDPE 2 and 705.5 million-pound-per-year LDPE 3 are underway, with the LDPE 2 scheduled for restart on August 19 and the LDPE 3 closer to August 27.

International
Haldia Petrochemical Limited, on August 4, was forced to shut down five units at its Haldia Complex in India due to a fire at the naphtha cracker unit. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the units by August 27.

PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical has rescheduled a 30-day planned turnaround of the 1.89 billion-pound-per-year ethylene cracker unit, due to mobility restrictions implemented by the government, at its Cilegon Petrochemical Complex in Indonesia. The turnaround now is expected to begin July 23, 2024, with the restart expected by August 21, 2024.

Braskem continues planning a 20-day maintenance turnaround of its 330 million-pound-per-year Polyethylene Resins (PE) 3 UNIPOL 2 - Gas-Phase Unit in Camacari, Brazil, which is expected to be implemented by mid-November. The unit would resume operations by November 30.
