Marathon on August 3 experienced a fire at a wastewater lift station at its Galveston Bay Refinery in Texas City, Texas. The fire was put out, and the 75,000-BBL/d UU3 Reformer has begun to restart. The 225,000-BBL/d PS 3B (crude), 65,000-BBL/d UU 4 Reformer and 60,000-BBL/d DDU 300 (diesel hydrotreater) should be restarted within 24 to 48 hours. The units shut down the end of May for planned turnarounds and restarted at the end of July. The refinery is derated due to low demand for auto fuel and product as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
