In its 13th year, the FOYA is the pharmaceutical industry's premier awards program, dedicated to celebrating innovation and accomplishments in facility design, construction and operation.

The winning companies and respective award categories are:
Cook Pharmica: Category Winner for Equipment Innovation
Location: Bloomington, Indiana
The company combined activities of what would traditionally be three filling lines into one line under barrier isolation, in a single filling suite. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Bristol-Myers Squibb: Category Winner for Facility Integration
Location: Devens, Massachusetts
The site's two newest buildings, the Biologics Development Building (BDB) and the Clinical Manufacturing Building (CMB), the facilities were designed and built in an efficient manner and incorporated into the broader campus to provide complementary value to the supply chain. Eli Lilly & Company: Category Winner for Facility of the Future/Process Innovation
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana and Carolina, Puerto Rico
Continuous Direct Compression Manufacturing Kits 2 & 3, the deployment of three replicate operational continuous Oral Solid Dosage production facilities constructed sequentially at three different sites. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Abbott: Category Winner for Operational Excellence
Location: Longford, Ireland
This plan was carried out through the successful application of Abbott systems and tools, deployment of lean Six Sigma strategies, facility modifications to support continuous improvement projects and embedding of the Shingo principles of operational excellence.

Jazz Pharmaceuticals Ireland Limited: Category Winner for Project Execution
Location: Monksland, Athlone, Co. Roscommon, Ireland
Known as "Project Rock," this is the company's first internal manufacturing site, a 55,500-square-foot building, with a cleanroom manufacturing suite, a warehouse with a controlled drug vault, a quality-control laboratory and offices. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Honorable Mentions were awarded to Nephron Pharmaceuticals, the Novartis-Penn Center for Advanced Cellular Therapies and PT. Kalbio Global Medika.

The 2017 FOYA Category Winners will be formally recognized at the ISPE Facility of the Year Awards Banquet on June 6, 2017, in Arlington, Virginia. The banquet, held in conjunction with the ISPE/FDA/PQRI Quality Manufacturing Conference, will feature presentations from the FOYA judging panel and other noted industry leaders. The 2017 FOYA Overall Winner will be announced at the 2017 ISPE Annual Meeting & Expo from October 29 to November 1, 2017, in San Diego, California.
