Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--ENEOS Corporation (Tokyo, Japan) is planning to construct a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) unit in the former Wakayama Refinery, which closed permanently in March.

ENEOS initially planned to construct a SAF unit in the Negishi Refinery, but, due to lack of land space, moved the project to the Wakayama Refinery. The demolition project will be completed by 2025 and SAF construction will kick off soon; unit operations will start in 2026.

On the other hand, Idemitsu Kosan Company Limited (Tokyo) postponed its SAF construction project in the Chiba Refinery from 2024 to 2025 due to rising construction costs.
