Jordan, Saudi Arabia Mull Power Connectivity, an Industrial Info Market Brief
Attachment: Power
Jordan and Saudi Arabia plan to accelerate the development of electrical connectivity between the two countries. They recently agreed to conduct a feasibility study for a 170-kilometer transmission line from east Amman in Jordan to Qurayyat in Saudi Arabia (see map below). The proposed interconnection is considered important because it would balance out the generation costs and peak electricity demand of both nations. Jordan's ambitious solar power plans and Saudi Arabia's reliance on fossil fuel would reach equilibrium, with Jordan supplying electricity to Saudi Arabia in the daytime, and Saudi Arabia providing power to Jordan after sunset.
