Minnesota Regulators Approve Solar Farm Amid Sea of Renewable Proposals
March 14, 2023--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Late last week, Minnesota regulators gave the green light for developers to proceed with construction of the 200-megawatt (MW) Byron Solar project in Dodge County. But the approval is just a drop in the bucket for a state that currently generates 3% of its power from the sun but is calling on utilities to generate 100% carbon-free power by 2040.
The Byron project is being developed by EDF Renewables (San Diego, California), a unit of France's Electricite de France (Paris), and despite unanimous approval from the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC), the project was not without some pushback.
