Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--A joint venture of Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) (Spring, Texas), Eni SpA (NYSE:E) (Rome, Italy) and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) (Beijing, China) is planning the Rovuma Mozambique liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, which will produce and liquefy natural gas from reservoirs of the Mamba complex located in the Area 4 block of the Rovuma Basin offshore Mozambique.
Two competing consortiums have been awarded front-end engineering design (FEED) work for the project through 2025.
McDermott (Houston, Texas), in a consortium with Saipem SpA (Milan, Italy) and China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation, said it was awarded a FEED contract for the Rovuma LNG Phase 1 Project. The FEED contract scope of work includes the modular design of a greenfield LNG production facility in Afungi, all associated gas pre-treatment units and the utilities and offsite systems to support the LNG production.
An association of Technip Energies (Paris, France) and JGC Corporation (Kanagawa, Japan) also was awarded a FEED contract for the project.
Exxon Mobil plans to reach a final investment decision (FID) on the project in 2026.
