October 6, 2025--Written by Daniel Graeber for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Exploration and production activity in North America remains suppressed, with U.S. shale basins showing meaningful declines relative to year-ago levels, Baker Hughes (Houston, Texas) reported. Baker Hughes on Thursday showed there were 739 rigs active in North America, with nearly 75% of those working on oil extraction over the seven-day period ending September 29. That compares with 805 during the same period last year.
