When one thinks of Biotech Industry clusters, areas such as those around Boston, San Francisco, Research Triangle Park (North Carolina) and San Diego usually come to mind. These clusters center on institutions, such as universities and non-profit research organizations, with ready access to local venture capitalists. The Seattle area is emerging as a hotbed for biotech research and development. As an example, Fred Hutchison Cancer Research (among other organizations) spun out Juno Therapeutics, a Car T-cell therapy concern. Juno has since been sold to Celgene, which is slated to be become part of Bristol Myers Squibb.
