Two of Turner's larger projects involve construction of manufacturing plants for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. In De Soto, Kansas, Turner is getting started on construction of an EV battery plant for Panasonic Holdings Corporation (Osaka, Japan). The facility is being built at the site of a former ammunition plant, and the project entails constructing a 2.5 million-square-foot facility, including a central utility plant, to manufacture batteries for Tesla Incorporated (NASDAQ:TSLA) (Austin, Texas). The project is expected to be completed in early 2025. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Industrial Manufacturing Project Database can click here for more details.
Wholly-owned Turner subsidiary the Lathrop Company (Toledo, Ohio), which was acquired by Turner in 1986, last year began work on a lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant for Honda Motor Company (NYSE:HMC) (Tokyo, Japan) that entails constructing about 3 million square feet of space to supply 40 gigawatt-hours of batteries for Honda's North American operations. The facility is expected to be completed by the end of next year. Subscribers can learn more by viewing the project report.
Turner also is at work on renovation and modernization projects at airports throughout the U.S. Among these is the replacement of Terminal 1 at the San Diego International Airport in California. The project involves constructing a new 1.2 million-square-foot terminal with 30 gates, expanding the airside apron, constructing 12 new security lanes and more. Construction kicked off in 2021, and the terminal is expected to be fully operational in 2028. Turner is acting as general contractor on the project. Subscribers can click here for more information.

Turner is constructing facilities for Facebook parent Meta in Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri, for example. Project Velvet in Kansas City, Missouri, entails constructing a 602,000-square-foot data center building and is expected to be completed in the first half of next year. In Papillion, Nebraska, on the southern outskirts of Greater Omaha, Turner is expanding Meta's campus by constructing two buildings totaling more than 750,000 square feet, which will increase the campus footprint to nine buildings totaling 4 million square feet. The expansion is set to be completed late next year. Turner is constructing buildings totaling 467,000 square feet at Meta's campus in Altoona, Iowa, outside of Des Moines, which it is expected to complete in early 2025.
