Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking more than $79.5 billion of Industrial Manufacturing Industry projects with a targeted completion date this year. Some have already been completed, some will make it to the 2021 finish line, but construction will carry over into 2022 for others. The automotive and distribution & warehousing sectors lead in terms of the value of projects, while the Great Lakes market region has the most value by market region.

Among the automotive projects that have wrapped up this year is Stellantis NV's (NYSE:STLA) (Amsterdam, Netherlands) conversion and expansion project at its Mack Avenue II plant in Detroit, Michigan. In addition to renovations, a new 685,000-square-foot paint shop and test track were built to enable the company to produce the new three-row Jeep sport utility vehicle and a new plug-in hybrid. E-commerce giant Amazon.com Incorporated (NASDAQ:AMZN) (Seattle, Washington) has emerged as leader in the distribution & warehousing sector, with the company's fulfillment centers springing up across the U.S. Industrial Info is tracking more than $11.8 billion in Amazon projects that were completed or are planned for completion by the end of the year. Among the largest of these facilities was one completed in Colorado Springs, Colorado, earlier this year. Construction on the five-story, 4 million-square-foot distribution and sorting center began early last year.
