Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Unit 2 of SDIC Jincheng Thermal Power Company Limited's (Jincheng, Shanxi) Jincheng Thermal Power Plant passed the 68-hour full load trial operation and was put into operation on October 10, 2011. This completes the Phase I project of SDIC Jincheng Thermal Power Plant, State Development and Investment Corporation (SDIC) (Beijing) announced on October 14.
SDIC Jincheng Thermal Power Plant is in Jincheng City, in the Shanxi province. The power plant has a total planned capacity of 3,200 megawatts (MW) and is to be built in three phases. Phase I and Phase II each will see the construction of two 300-MW combined heat and power units, while two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units will be built in Phase III. The power plant was jointly invested by SDIC Jincheng Energy Company Limited (Jincheng, Shanxi) and Jincheng Chunguang Thermal Power Company Limited (Jincheng, Shanxi), and designed by North China Power Engineering Company Limited (Beijing).
Construction of Phase I of the power plant began on March 28, 2009. Unit 1 began commercial operations on July 7, 2011. Following the completion of Phase I, construction on Phase II began, while Phase III is undergoing pre-stage preparation. Upon the completion of all three phases, the power plant will be able to supply about 16 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to the grid, which will effectively alleviate the power shortage in east Shanxi, improve the power source structure in Shanxi Grid, and secure the power supply to support the rapid and sustainable economic development in southeast Shanxi province.
