Tropical Storm Hanna is expected to hit the lower Texas coast on Saturday. A tropical storm watch is in effect from the mouth of the Rio Grande River to San Luis Pass. As of 10 am CDT on Friday, the storm was moving west-northwest, and was expected to make landfall along the Texas Gulf Coast Saturday afternoon or evening, according to the National Hurricane Center. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 miles per hour, and a gradual strengthening is expected until the storm makes landfall. Hanna is expected to produce 4 to 8 inches of rain, with isolated maximum totals of 12 inches through Sunday night in south Texas.
As of Friday morning, Industrial Info has not seen any reports of offshore oil and gas facilities being shut in. Industrial Info also is monitoring the status of petroleum refineries in the area. At this time, refineries including Bill Greehey, Flint Hills and Citgo Corpus are expected to remain online during the event.
