(Belgium) will stop production at its 315,000-ton-per-year zinc smelter in Budel, Netherlands, beginning September 1 until further notice, according to a company press release. Nyrstar is majority owned by Trafigura Pte Ltd. (Singapore).
Nyrstar described the decision to put the zinc smelter on care and maintenance "as a response to various external factors impacting the business." The facility has not operated at full capacity since the beginning of 2022.
