Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Advanced Power AG (Zug, Switzerland) and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH (NYSE:SI) (Erlangen, Germany) began construction in March as joint-venture partners on a 400-megawatt (MW) combined-cycle, natural-gas-fired power station near the Dutch border of Bocholt, North Rhine-Westphalia. The station will consist of one highly reliable Siemens (SGT6-6000G) combustion turbine generator set with a fully developed compressor. It will also be fitted with a heat recovery steam generator driving a single 133 MW steam turbine generator set in a combined-cycle configuration. The station will also have the most advanced mechanical and electrical equipment, instrumentation and control system available in today's power generation market. This new energy capacity will help meet the growing electricity needs of the area's community and industrial facilities.
The station is expected to be commissioned and fully operational by the second quarter 2010. Industrial Info will continue to monitor this project as it goes through the various stages of construction and development.
