Agro-Farma Commissions New Refrigerated Warehouse in New York
Agro-Farma Incorporated has begun commissioning a new refrigerated warehouse at its Greek-style yogurt-making facility in New Berlin, New York.
Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Agro-Farma Incorporated (Norwich, New York) has begun commissioning a new refrigerated warehouse at its Greek-style yogurt production facility in New Berlin, New York. The addition is expected to receive finished goods next month and will create at least 50 jobs.
Groundbreaking took place last summer across the street from the existing 67,000-square-foot production plant, which was acquired from Kraft Foods in 2005. Valued at $22 million, the project involves the construction of a 163,000-square-foot refrigerated warehouse building, as well as an enclosed conveyor system that is elevated 35 feet above ground to transport finished yogurt products from the production building to the new facility. Agro-Farma retained design-build firm Tippmann Construction (Fort Wayne, Indiana) for the project.
The new warehouse will enable Agro-Farma, which produces almost 200,000 cases of yogurt annually, to store its products locally and will serve as the distribution hub for their entire operation.
Last year, Agro-Farma acquired the Procter & Gamble (NYSE:PG) (Cincinnati, Ohio) campus in Norwich, New York, which is now the company's headquarters. The facility consists of a 335,000-square-foot building on an 88-acre site, where other operations eventually will be added.
Founded in 2005 in New Berlin, New York, Agro-Farma is one of the state's largest dairy product manufacturers. The company offers nonfat and low fat yogurt in various flavors and is parent to Chobani, the second-leading yogurt brand in the U.S.
