AISTech 2016 Boasts Largest Exhibit Hall in Show's History

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--More than 8,000 people are expected to attend The Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) Conference and Exposition (AISTech), which is currently under way at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

"The major highlight this year is the exposition--we have more than 535 companies, making it the largest exhibit hall ever for AISTech," said AIST General Manager--Membership and Marketing Stacy Varmecky.

The exhibit hall, technical sessions and conference will feature the latest advancements from all over the world in all phases of ironmaking, steelmaking, rolling and finishing processes, and the various engineering, equipment and process technologies involved in today's steel production.

The AISTech tradeshow and conference kicked off Sunday, May 15, with a golf fundraising event, featuring a four-day program with technical presentations, plant tours and keynote presentations by today's industry leaders.

Industrial Info Resources will be onsite to cover the conference, including the President Award's Breakfast Tuesday, where AIST will announce the Steelmaker of the Year, followed by a keynote address from Mario Longhi, president and chief executive officer of United States Steel Corporation (NYSE:X) (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), titled "The Future of Steel."

AIST will also host a town hall forum later on Wednesday, May 18, at the Spirit of Pittsburg Ballroom that will cover the challenges and opportunities in the steel markets. Topics will include China and trade, steel markets challenges and opportunities (oil and gas, construction markets and the automotive sector), raw material demand (iron ore) in 2016 and workforce development.

The discussion will include the following industry expert panelists:

  • John Brett, president and chief executive officer, ArcelorMittal USA, a subsidiary of ArcelorMittal S.A.(NYSE:MT) (Luxembourg)
  • Piotr Glitzine, chairman and chief executive officer, TMK IPSCO, a division of OAO TMK (Moscow)
  • Lourenco Goncalves, chairman, president and chief executive officer, Cliffs Natural Resources Incorporated (NYSE:CLF) (Cleveland, Ohio)
  • Doug Matthews, senior vice president, Industrial Service Center and Mining Solutions, United States Steel Corporation
  • Glenn Pushis, senior vice president Long Products Steel Group, Steel Dynamics Incorporated (NASDAQ:STLD) (Fort Wayne, Indiana)
AISTech 2016 will wrap up its show Thursday, May 19, with the following local tours: Ellwood Group Incorporated (Ellwood Quality Steel, Ellwood Mill Products and North American Forgemasters, Steel Dynamics--The Techs Division and United States Steel's Mon Valley Works integrated steelmaking operation, (Clairton, Edgar, Thomson, Irvin and Fairless).
