AlaTrade Breaks Ground on Grassroot Poultry Processing Plant in Alabama

The Phenix Industrial Park will soon be home to a new $15 Million poultry processing plant owned by privately held AlaTrade Foods, LLC (Guntersville, Alabama). AlaTrade plans to build an 85,000 square foot building with equipment that will process about 1.5 million chicken parts per week. The company will turn chicken breast and wings into chicken nuggets, strips, and gourmet chicken for food distributors.

Located on a 21-acre site in Marshall county, the new further processing plant will contain approximately 50,000 square feet of refrigerated space including freezer and cooler. AlaTrade expects to begin production by December 2007. Once operational the Phenix City plant will join the company’s two other plants, both located in Boaz. AlaTrade hired Chorba Contracting Corporation (Guntersville, Alabama) as the general contractor for the new plant. The final selection of subcontractors will take place by the end of August.
