Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Privately-held poultry processor, AlaTrade Foods LLC (Guntersville, Alabama) has begun construction on a new poultry further processing plant in Albertville, Alabama. To meet a growing demand for the companies' further processing capabilities, AlaTrade is constructing a 54,000 square foot plant, which will receive processed poultry from plants like Tyson, and then will customize package the product to sell.
Actual groundbreaking took place back in November of 2004 and the general contractor, Chorba Construction Company (Guntersville, Alabama), is currently on site pouring the foundation and preparing the building for equipment installation.
DNF Equipment Sales Incorporated (Crossville, Alabama) is providing the process equipment and will be responsible for its installation as well.
Construction on this estimated $10 million project is expected to be completed by June 1, 2005.
AlaTrade was formed back in 2001 when former Tyson Foods manager Davis Lee, now chief executive officer, purchased the Pro Foods plant in Boaz, Alabama, where the company operates a large poultry processing complex, employing over 850 people. The Albertville plant will be the company's third plant and is expected to have a staff of over 600 employees.
