Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--ALDI Incorporated (Batavia, Illinois) expects to complete the construction of a grocery distribution center, estimated at more than $40 million, next month in South Windsor, Connecticut.
Construction on the 500,000-square-foot facility began last summer. It includes 130,000 square feet of refrigerated space, 17,000 square feet of office space and a dry storage area on a 104-acre site. A M King Construction (Charlotte, North Carolina) provided the design-build services. Webber/Smith Associates (Lancaster, Pennsylvania) was selected as the architect and engineer for the project, and civil engineering was performed by Design Professionals Incorporated (South Windsor, Connecticut).
In addition to this project, Industrial Info is monitoring three other active ALDI projects in the U.S. estimated at $120 million.
ALDI is an international, limited assortment discount retailer that operates about 7,600 stores worldwide. The company entered the U.S. market from Germany in 1976 and has more than 900 stores in 28 states.
