Alstom Wind North America Nears Completion of Texas Manufacturing Plant

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Alstom Wind North America (Richmond, Virginia) is nearing completion on construction of a $25 million plant in Amarillo, Texas, that will assemble wind turbine nacelles.

Site preparation began in May 2010 for the complete renovation and new construction of an existing 115,000-square-foot building located on a 19.25-acre site.

The new plant will assemble the nacelles, gearboxes and control systems for wind turbines. The nacelles will be transported from Amarillo to sites where they will be installed with blades and towers to create the complete wind turbine generators.

Testing is currently under way, and plant operations are anticipated to begin by the first week of April. The new plant will serve as the company's manufacturing, energy development and sales division. Approximately 275 new jobs will be created as a result of the construction of the new plant.

Ryan Companies US Incorporated (Minneapolis, Minnesota) was selected to provide architectural and engineering services, as well as construction services for the new plant.
