Architect Awarded Contract for $40 Million Home Depot Distribution Center in Alabama

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Macgregor Associates Architects Incorporated (Atlanta, Georgia) was selected to provide architectural design for a proposed $40 million regional distribution center to be constructed in McCalla, Alabama, for The Home Depot Incorporated (NYSE: HD) (Atlanta, Georgia).

Plans are to construct a 658,000-square-foot building on a 70-acre site in the Jefferson County Industrial Park to support the company's regional distribution operations. The company is currently bidding for a general contractor that will provide construction services. A general contractor will be selected in late March or early April of this year. Construction is anticipated to begin in late May or early June 2008 with overall completion slated for mid- to late 2009. Initially, 150 jobs will be created with 400 jobs planned after the new center is fully operational.
