Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Atlas Copco Compressors LLC (Rock Hill, South Carolina), a world leader in compressed air-system engineering and complete packaged solutions, plans to consolidate three facilities to a new site in Houston, Texas. The facilities closing are located in Kenosha, Wisconsin; Houston, Texas; and Richardson, Texas. Each facility manufactures a large range of compressed air products, including nitrogen generators, refrigerated dryers, biogas dryers and selected standard products.
As a result of the consolidation, the majority of the workers will have the option to relocate to the new operation in Houston. Workers that are unable to relocate will receive assistance with career transitions and severance benefits. The company's main objective is building a competence center for all engineered products in order to stay competitive. The consolidated Houston location will provide a wider range of custom-designed products and will capitalize on the close proximity to the U.S. Gulf Coast oil and gas industry. The new facility in Houston is scheduled to be up and running with production in full swing by the end of 2011.
