Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--German-based automotive parts supplier Roechling Automotive Group USA LLP (Duncan, South Carolina) plans to construct a $15 million automotive parts manufacturing plant in Akron, Ohio.
Plans are under way to construct a 75,000-square-foot building at the Massillon Road Industrial Park, near State Route 224 and Interstate 77, with the installation of production and supporting equipment to manufacture automotive parts for the Ford Focus and the made-in-Lordstown Chevrolet Cruze, and will include strong thermoplastic underbody panels that improve vehicle aerodynamics. Roechling obtained Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) (Dearborn, Michigan) and General Motors (NYSE:GM) (Detroit, Michigan) as customers. The company is seeking a general contractor for construction of the new plant. Site preparations are anticipated to begin this month, with construction expected by May. Overall completion of the new plant is expected by the end of this year. Approximately 123 jobs will be created when the new plant becomes operational. In 2013, the plant is expected to begin making parts for BMW as well.
The company selected the Akron site over locations in Hudson and Stowe.
Roechling Automotive Group USA LLP is a subsidiary of parent company Roechling Automotive AG &CoKG, which is headquarted in Mannheim, Baden-Wuertemberg, Germany. The company has 55 facilities worldwide, with seven in the United States.
