Automotive Supplier Begins Construction on First Canadian Plant

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Arvin Sango Incorporated (Madison, Indiana), a joint venture of Meritor Incorporated (NYSE:MTOR) (Troy, Michigan) and Sango Company Limited (Miyoshi, Japan), is under way with construction on a $20 million automotive parts plant in London, Ontario. The company is an automotive supplier and manufacturer of high-quality components to original equipment manufacturers.

Site work began in October 2011 followed in November by construction of a 110,000-square-foot building on a 12.5-acre site. The plant will manufacture exhaust system assemblies for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada. Phase I completion of the new plant is expected by September 2012. An expansion of the new plant is expected within two years, which will add another 110,000 square feet. Approximately 60 jobs will be created initially and another 60 after the second phase is completed.

Arvin Sango is also under way on a $42 million expansion of its Madison, Indiana, plant, adding 170,000 square feet of manufacturing space and new production equipment to the existing building. Approximately 39 new jobs will be created once this expansion is complete, adding to the existing 693 jobs.
