Automotive Tier Supplier Nicholas Plastics Expands in Michigan

The $18 million expansion will involve two phases. Phase I expansion is currently underway and involves the construction of a 67,000 square foot addition to the existing 155,000 square foot plant, as well as the installation of new equipment. A total of $13.6 Million will be used for new equipment and technology for the phase I expansion and approximately 250 jobs will be created over the next five years.

Phase II expansion is currently planned to begin construction later in 2005, and will involve a 60,000 square foot addition, as well as the installation of more new equipment and technology.

Nicholas Plastics Incorporated, headquartered in Allendale, Michigan, is a Nicholas Plastics Group Company. They are a Tier I, II & III supplier to automotive OEMs and a custom molder for the appliance and office industries. Nicholas Plastics Incorporated specializes in extrusion molding design and engineering services for the automotive, appliance and furniture industries. They manufacture custom extrusions, including extrusions, co-extrusions and tri-extrusions with inline flocking, cutting and slip coating. They have the ability to manufacture both interior and exterior grade products including glass run channels, beltline seals, cowl seals, bulb seals, and closeouts using Sealastic™ compounds. Their product features include the ability to co-extrude and injection mold in multi-durometers and to various substrates including ABS, PVC, TPO and PP.NPI also utilizes foam technology, metal carrier encapsulation designs, color matching, inline and taped flocking, slipcoating, injection molded corner pieces, and foam tape applications.
