Most of the planned biomass facilities are smaller in nature, with generating capacities of 75 megawatts (MW) or less. Project examples include RENOVA Incorporated's (Tokyo, Japan) 75-MW biomass-fired facility in Ishinomaki, construction of which kicked off in 2020 and is expected to be completed next year.
