BP Alternative Energy Plans for 150-Megawatt Phase II Expansion at Sherbino Windfarm
BP Alternative Energy North America Incorporated, a subsidiary of BP plc (NYSE:BP), is planning an addition to the existing 150-megawatt Sherbino Windfarm in Fort Stockton, Texas.
Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--BP Alternative Energy North America Incorporated (Houston, Texas), a subsidiary of BP plc (NYSE:BP) (London, England), is planning an addition to the existing 150-megawatt (MW) Sherbino Windfarm in Fort Stockton, Texas.
The Sherbino Windfarm includes 50 Vestas V90 wind turbine generators of 3 MW each. The plant was brought online in late 2008.
The windfarm is owned by BP Alternative Energy North America, which partnered with Padoma Wind Power (La Jolla, California), a subsidiary of NRG Energy (NYSE:NRG) (Princeton, New Jersey).
The expansion will include 60 Clipper Liberty wind turbine generators of 2.5 MW each. All the bids have gone out and BP is expecting them to return by mid-January 2011. M.A. Mortenson, the general contractor of Phase I, is also one of the bidders for Phase II.
Some permits still need to be obtained, but the owners are hopeful that site preparation can begin in the April-May 2011 timeframe, with project completion expected by the end of 2011.
