U.S. Drillers Cut Oil Rigs
- The number of rigs drilling for oil in the U.S. declined by eight for the week ending December 27, to 677. In the same week a year ago, there were 885 active rigs. (Reuters)

LNG
Opponents Ask FERC to Reconsider Brownsville LNG Projects
- The Sierra Club and several other opponents of three proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminals at the Port of Brownsville are asking the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to reconsider permits that the agency recently awarded for the projects. In three separate Christmas Eve filings, the Sierra Club and other opponents of Rio Grande LNG, Annova LNG and Texas LNG asked for a rehearing on the agency's November 21 decision that gave permits to all three projects. (Houston Chronicle)

CRUDE OIL
U.S. Crude Stocks Decline
- The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports that U.S. crude oil stockpiles declined by 5.5 million barrels for the week ending December 20 to 441.4 million barrels. Refinery crude runs rose by 418,000 barrels. (Reuters)
