Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The first batch of wind turbines in the Bolike Phase I project at the Saihanba windfarm was put into operation in late December in northern China's Inner Mongolia Region. The windfarm is operated by Datang Chifeng Wind Power Company Limited, a subsidiary of China Datang Corporation (Beijing). So far, the installed capacity of China Datang's wind power has reached 1,007.7 megawatts (MW). Wu Guihui, Vice Director of the Energy Bureau of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), among other leaders and representatives, attended the celebration ceremony at China Datang's headquarters.
China Datang has been actively developing clean and renewable energies, including hydropower, wind power and nuclear power, and has achieved sound economic and social benefits since it was established five years ago, China Datang's President Di Ruoyu said at the ceremony. The corporation spent three years developing its wind-power capacity to more than 1,000 MW, accounting for about one-fifth of China's total wind-power capacity. The Saihanba windfarm has reached 498.2 MW alone to become the world's largest windfarm currently in operation.
Renewable energy has been developing swiftly in China since 2003, and the installed capacity of wind power has multiplied. Large energy enterprises, including China Datang, have actively made contributions to the industrialization of wind power in China. The NDRC is working with the State Grid Corporation (Beijing) and some provinces with rich wind resources to construct large wind-power bases, Wu Guihui said. He expressed hopes that China Datang could make persistent efforts and become a leading enterprise in wind power development.
Based on a related report, China Datang has 902 wind turbines operating in 22 wind-power projects in five Chinese provinces. Up until the end of November 2007, the company's on-grid output of wind power reached 903 million kilowatt-hours. In 2007, China Datang Chifeng Wind Power Company had 268 wind turbines planned in seven new wind power projects with a total installed capacity of 330 MW. As of December 27, 2007, all seven projects have been put into operation.
