Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The first wind turbine of Datang Gansu Power Generation Company's (Lanzhou, Gansu) Jingtai Qianfeng Windfarm and Jingtai Shatangzi Windfarm were successfully connected to the grid on January 1. This marks that Datang Gansu has achieved its objective of putting these two wind farms into operation on time.
Both windfarms are located in Jingtai County, in Northwest China's Gansu province. The Jingtai windfarm is the sixth windfarm developed by Datang Gansu. Each of them has a total installed capacity of 49.5 megawatts (MW). Total installed capacity of the two windfarms in Jingtai will be 99 MW.
The Qianfeng Windfarm will be furnished with 20 wind turbines, each with a generating capacity of 2 MW, and one 1.5-MW wind turbine, manufactured by Shanghai Electric Corporation (Shanghai). The Shatangzi Windfarm will be furnished with 30 wind turbines, each with a generating capacity of 1.65 MW, manufactured by China South Locomotive & Rolling Stock Corporation (Zhuzhou, Hunan).Upon completion, these two windfarms will be able to supply about 185 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy to the local grid every year. Compared with conventional coal-fired power plants the windfarms could save 61,200 metric tons of standard coal and reduce the emission of 184,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide every year.
Datang Gansu has focused more on power source structural adjustment by enhancing the work in project development and actively advocating green and environmental ideas through the development of new energy and the implementation of clean energy. The successful commissioning of these two windfarms also marks that Datang Gansu has stepped into a new stage in its power source structural adjustment, as well as in the construction of clean energy.
