Coachmen Industries (NYSE: COA) (Elkhart, Indiana) is investing $3.3 million to expand their manufacturing plant in Middlebury, Indiana. Coachmen is building a 127,000 square foot state of the art plant to produce class C motor homes. This will be the company's largest RV plant. The plant will house two assembly lines enabling the company to become more efficient by separating longer production hour models from shorter production hour models. The company expects to complete the expansion by August 2003.
Mid-States Construction is currently performing construction services for the expansion that is expected to create 150 jobs.
Coachmen Industries Incorporated was founded in 1964 and also has manufacturing sites located in Goshen, Indiana and Fitzgerald, Georgia. The company is one of the nation's leading manufacturers of recreational vehicles. Their vehicles are manufactured under the Coachmen Recreational Vehicles, LLC, Shasta, Georgie Boy Manufacturing, LLC and Viking Recreational Vehicles, LLC brand names. The Coachmen Companies produce a full line of recreational vehicles, including Class A motorhomes, Class C "mini" motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheel trailers and folding camping trailers.
