Columbia Sportswear to Construct $40 Million Distribution Center in Kentucky

PerloMcCormackPacific (Portland, Oregon), which has been involved in other Columbia Sportswear building projects, will serve as the general contractor for the new distribution center.
The new distribution center will be built on 68 acres in Henderson, Kentucky in the Four Star Regional Industrial Park. The project is currently in the design phase. Actual construction of the new 428,000 square foot distribution center is expected to start in mid September 2003, with completion scheduled for early 2005.
The new facility is expected to initially employ 90 and enable efficient, two-day delivery to East Coast and Midwest customers.
Currently, all Columbia's United States distribution is handled through their 850,000 square foot distribution center in Portland, Oregon. This will be the second distribution center in the United States for the company. The company opened its first European distribution center in France last year.
Columbia Sportswear Company, headquartered in Portland, Oregon, was founded in 1938. The company has become one of the leading designers, marketers and distributors of outdoor apparel and footwear.
