Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). One of North America's largest food processors, ConAgra Foods Incorporated (NYSE: CAG) (Omaha, Nebraska) division, ConAgra Refrigerated Foods Group is planning a major expansion and renovation of a Michigan plant to expand kosher operations.
The company announced plans late last year to relocate and expand kosher operations in Quincy, Michigan (Plant 1504046) and create 120 new jobs.
The project involves an 8,000 square foot addition to the existing plant and the remodeling of about 70,000 square feet of space to make room for one new kosher meats production line and a relocated line coming from an older plant located in Indianapolis, Indiana. (Plant 1010471)
ConAgra selected Gleeason Constructors LLC (Sioux City, Iowa) as the prime contractor for this over $7 million project. Currently, the company is on-site performing demolition of existing structures, where the new building is to be located.
Completion of the project is scheduled for August of 2004.
The products will be produced and packaged under ConAgra's Hebrew National brand name and meet all of the criteria for kosher products processed in the United States.
Based in Omaha, Nebraska, ConAgra Food Products is North America's No. 1 foodservice supplier and No. 2 supplier to grocery stores. Last year it recorded over $27 billion in sales with its 33 major brands and value-added products.
