Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Henan No.2 Thermal Power Construction Company (HTPC2) (Zhengzhou, Henan), a subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China (PCCC) (Beijing) began mechanical erection of first boiler steel beam for Unit 2 of China Resources Power Holdings Limited (Hong Kong)'s Panjin 700-megawatt (MW) Cogeneration Power Project on March 28, 2013.
China Resources Panjin Cogeneration Power Project, located in Xinli Town, Xinglongtai District of Panjin City, has a planned capacity of 700MW, consisting of two 350MW supercritical coal-fired units together with associated heat supply pipeline works. Total investment is about $480 million. Early in August 2010, the project received preliminary approval from the National Energy Administration (NEA) to begin pre-stage preparation for the project.
In October 2010, China Resources Panjin Thermal Power Company Limited (Panjin, Liaoning), a subsidiary of China Resources Power, was then established to be responsible for the development as well as future operation of the project. The engineering contract and the main equipment supply contract were then awarded to Northeast Electric Power Design Institute (Changchun, Jilin), a subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consultancy Corporation (CPECC) (Beijing), and Harbin Electric Corporation (Harbin, Heilongjiang) respectively. In May 2012, the project received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the top planner of China.
According to the schedule, both units of the project will be put into operation in 2014. Upon completion, the project will be able to supply heat to an area of 12 million square meters and 160 tons per hour of steam to industrial customers. Completion of the project will allow the closure of 175MW of small coal-fired units in Liaoning Province, and replace 133 small coal-fired boilers scattered in the service area.
