Construction Under Way at Canned Food Plant Expansion in Iowa

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Pinnacle Foods LLC (Mountain Lakes, New Jersey) has begun construction on a $20 million capital investment at a plant in Fort Madison, Iowa, where the company is transferring operations from a plant in Tacoma, Washington, that is to be closed.

Pinnacle is adding a 17,000-square-foot addition to the 420,000-square-foot plant to accommodate the production of chili and beans.

Construction began at the end of January, and the building is halfway up. The building will be enclosed by June, at which time the installation of the processing equipment will begin. The project will be completed in August.

Pinnacle will contract the installation of processing equipment and has selected Carl Nelson & Company as the general contractor.
