Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Gem State Processing LLC, a unit of Oregon Potato Company (Pasco, Washington), has begun construction on a new potato dehydration plant in Heyburn, Idaho.
Gem State is investing $12 million in a new 130,000-square-foot building and processing equipment for the handling and processing of potatoes. The facility will produce a potato flake that will be used in other products.
The dehydration plant is being constructed in the Burley Industrial Park on Highway 30 in Heyburn. The company broke ground on the project in August and anticipates that the facility will be fully operational in the second quarter of 2011.
Gem State contracted Max Gabbard Construction (Yakima, Washington) as general contractor. Idaho Steel (Idaho Falls, Idaho) has the subcontract for equipment installation.
