Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Privately held Limited Liability Company, Continental Refrigerated Services LLC (Tinley Park, Illinois) is constructing a new cold storage warehouse in the Southern Chicago suburb of University Park, Illinois (Plant 1061962).
Under a build-to-suit deal with TBC Development Corporation (Tinley Park, Illinois), Continental plans to construct a 262,470 square foot cold storage warehouse. TBC will be responsible for constructing the building and will basically hand the keys over to Continental once construction is completed.
The facility will be configured with 137,500 square feet of freezer storage area, approximately 70,000 square feet of cooler storage and 55,000 square feet of tenant space that the company plans to lease to food manufacturing companies.
Continental already has two spaces in the tenant area leased. A hamburger packer will set up operations in part of the building and a vegetable packer in the other. Both companies will utilize Continental's cold storage area to warehouse product. One additional space remains open for a potential food manufacturing tenant.
Currently, site preparation work is underway at the site at Steunkel Road and Central Avenue in University Park and construction should be completed by late summer of 2004.
Cost estimates for the project are in the $20 million range.
