CPECC Signs Contract for 2,000-Megawatt Expansion Project

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--China Power Engineering Consulting Corporation (CPECC) (Beijing) and Anhui Wenergy Company Limited (Hefei) signed a contract on July 16 for a 2,000-megawatt (MW) expansion project at the Anhui Tongling Power Plant. The plant is located near the city of Tongling in central China's Anhui province.

CPECC, through various subsidiaries, will perform the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work on the project. Construction is expected to last 24 months. The project received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission in June 2008. The project will replace smaller generating units at the plant with two 1,000-MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired units, with flue gas desulfurization and denitration devices.

CPECC has achieved qualitative progress in the general contracting market while keeping its leading position in the traditional power survey and engineering markets. In the first half of 2008, CPECC successfully won EPC contracts for a number of environmental protection and energy conservation power projects, including Gujiao Power Plant Phase II 2X600-MW Project in Shanxi, Shenhua Bohaiwan Power Plant 2X200-MW Project, Shenhua Shendong Midong Power Plant 2X300-MW Project in Xinjiang, Shenhua Shendong Salaqi Power Plant 2X300-MW Project in Inner Mongolia and Huaneng Changchun 2X15-MW Biomass Power Plant in the Jilin province.
