Now classified as a Category 1 hurricane, Hanna churned toward the lower Texas coast on Saturday. Packing sustained winds of 80 miles per hour, the hurricane was located about 85 miles southeast of Corpus Christi, Texas, as of 10 am CDT, according to the National Hurricane Center.
A hurricane warning was in effect for Port Mansfield to Mesquite Bay, Texas. Hanna was moving westward about 7 miles per hour, and was expected to make landfall by late Saturday afternoon or early in the evening.
Hanna was expected to produce 6 to 12 inches of rain, with isolated maximum totals of 18 inches through Sunday night in south Texas and into the Mexican states of Coahuila, Nuevo Leon and northern Tamaulipas.
As of Friday, Industrial Info had not seen any reports of offshore oil and gas facilities being shut in. Industrial Info also is monitoring the status of petroleum refineries in the area. Refineries including Bill Greehey, Flint Hills and Citgo Corpus were expected to remain online.
Ethylene plants and power facilities also planned to continue operating.
In Mexico, Pemex TRI was maintaining normal operations at its 270,000-barrel-per-day Cadereyta refinery.
