Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC) (Shenzhen), State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) (Beijing) and Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC) (Chengdu, Sichuan) jointly signed the Reactor Pressure Vessel Equipment Procurement Contract and the Steam Generator Equipment Procurement Contract for the No. 2 unit of Dafan Nuclear Power Plant in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan province, on December 2, 2009.
Reactor pressure vessels and steam generators are the most important materials in the manufacturing of nuclear power plant equipment. The contracts pave a foundation for the smooth implementation of the project.
Si Zefu, general manager of DEC and chairman of DEC Limited (SHA:600875); Qu Dazhuang, vice president of SNPTC; and Ma Jie, chairman and general manager of Xianning Nuclear Power Company Limited (XNPC) (Xianning, Hubei), a subsidiary of CGNPC, attended and addressed the signing ceremony on behalf of their parties. Wen Shugang, president of DEC Limited; Sun Wenke, general manager of State Nuclear Power Engineering Company Limited (SNPEC) (Beijing), a subsidiary of SNPTC; and Bian Shuming, vice president of XNPC, signed the contracts on behalf of the seller, the buyer and the end user, respectively, DEC announced on December 3, 2009.
Dafan Nuclear Power Project is in Dafan Town of Tongshan County in Xianning City, in the Hubei province. The project is one of the first batch of inland nuclear power projects proposed in China. According to the approval of the National Development and Reform Commission, the project has a planned capacity of four sets of AP1000-based nuclear power units, including two 1,250-megawatt units that will be built in Phase I. Construction of the project will be performed under the control of CGNPC. On April 26, 2008, CGNPC signed the official agreement with Hubei Energy Group (Wuhan, Hubei) to jointly set up Hubei Nuclear Power Company Limited (Wuhan), which will be responsible for nuclear power construction in Hubei province, and project company XNPC, which will be responsible for the construction of the project.
On August 26, 2009, XNPC signed the framework agreement with the consortium formed by five subsidiaries of the SNPTC: the SNPEC, Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute (SNERDI) (Shanghai), State Nuclear Power Design & Research Institute (SNPDRI) (Beijing), State Nuclear Power Automation System Engineering Company (SNPAS) (Shanghai) and State Nuclear Power Service Company Limited (SNPSC) (Shanghai). The consortium will be jointly responsible for the engineering, the procurement of the nuclear island, and the construction of the proposed nuclear power project.
As reported, the main equipment contract for the No. 1 unit of the project is ready to be signed shortly. Site preparation of the project is progressing smoothly. First concrete date of the project is scheduled in the later half of 2010.
