Eastern Chinese Province Finalizes 500 Projects Worth $129 Billion

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Eastern China's Fujian Province has finalized 500 investment projects with a total investment of $129 billion in 2008. Of those projects, 329 with a total investment of $86 billion are under construction, and 171 with a total investment of $43 billion are under pre-stage preparation, Fujian's Development and Reform Commission recently announced.

In the energy sector, there are 13 projects under construction and five under pre-stage preparation with a total annual investment of $3.37 billion. The main construction work for the terminals and pipelines in Fujian's liquefied natural gas integrated project will be completed in the first quarter. The project is scheduled to receive the first tanker of gas for commissioning in April. The urban gas and gas power plant projects will start commissioning at the end of May.

Fujian will promote the construction of power generation projects, including large-scale coal power, gas power, nuclear power, hydropower and wind power projects. The province aims to put the following units totaling 2,700 megawatts into operation this year:

•Houshi power plant's Unit 7
•Jiemian hydropower station's Unit 2
•Ningde Hongkou hydropower station's Unit 1
•Gas power plants in Putian and Jinjiang

Fujian also plans to start construction on several projects:

•The Ningde and Fuqing nuclear power projects
•The Zhangping and Yong'an power plant expansion
•The Putian and Fuqing wind power projects
•Phase II of the Longyan pithead power plant

The provincial electric power company is being required to improve construction organization and to make sure that the 500-kilovolt Quanzhou North, Nanping and Lianjiang transmission and transformer substation projects are able to meet peak load this summer. Pre-stage preparations are also being conducted for interlinking projects, such as the second channel between the Fujian and eastern Chinese grids, and the connection between the Fujian and Guangdong grids.
