Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). El Paso Corporation (NYSE:EP)(Houston, Texas) is planning to construct a new $300 million natural gas pipeline from its Elba Island LNG receiving terminal to markets in Northwest Georgia and the southern and eastern regions through multiple pipeline interconnects. The proposed Elba Express Pipeline project will include to construction of 105 miles of 42”diameter and 86 miles of 36” diameter natural gas transmission pipeline.

The initial phase of construction will allow the transmission of approximately 1.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. The second phase of the Elba Express Pipeline will involve the construction of a new compressor station near the mid point of the pipeline. The compressor station will be comprised of a single Solar Mars turbine compressor package.

El Paso expects to file for its regulator permits with the FERC some time in the fourth quarter of 2006. All things considered, El Paso expects to select contractors and proceed with construction on the first phase some time in 2009 with completion slated for 2010. The phase II compressor station would follow into service in late 2010 or early 2011.
