Enbridge Begins Construction on New Natural Gas Pipeline in Texas

Enbridge Incorporated (NYSE:ENB ) (Calgary, Alberta) subsidiary, Enbridge Energy Partners LP (Houston, Texas), has begun construction on its East Texas pipeline system project. The new natural gas pipeline will originate near an existing facility in Anderson County and traverse 107 miles terminating at the Carthage hub in Panola County, Texas. When completed, the new 36"-diameter pipeline will have a capacity of over 500 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.

Enbridge awarded the construction contract for the $150 million pipeline to ARB Incorporated (Lake Forest, California) and began construction two weeks ago in late October 2004. The 36"-diameter pipe production contract was awarded last April to IPSCO Incorporated (NYSE:IPS ) (Regina, Saskatchewan) and is currently being delivered to sites staggered along the right-of-way. Completion of the East Texas System is expected by late April of 2005.

Enbridge Energy Partners LP is a master limited partnership, which owns and operates crude oil, liquid petroleum, and natural gas midstream businesses in the United States. The Partnership's natural gas businesses consist of gathering, transmission, processing, treating, and marketing subsidiaries operating in the Mid-Continent and Gulf Coast areas.
